The Internship

On January 2017, I started a two-year pastoral development internship with Karis Church, located in Columbia, MO.

I was in active ministry as a Karis Staff intern and the Karis Church Youth Ministry Director.

The Karis Internship is an intensive program focused on pastoral training, theological education, and active missional ministry. The program does invest time in theological education, but unlike seminary, it IS active Gospel ministry, pastoral training, and church missional support in the context of a local church – Karis Church.

Activity in Missional Ministry (I am a local missionary)

In the Karis Internship I was:
  • the Karis Church Youth Ministry Director
  • a Karis Church Staff member
  • a Karis Gathering Director Team member
  • a Porterbrook Learning Leader
  • a Karis Communications Team member in design, video, and photography production
  • Assigned a variety of research and vision development projects by Karis Church pastors
  • a Preaching Team member
  • The internship was an unpaid internship.
  • The internship required me to work at least 20 hours a week in active ministry (10 hours in staff office hours).
  • The internship limits interns to work an average of 20 hours a week in a part-time job.
